Vice President JD Vance urged cryptocurrency owners to become politically active, calling for long-term strategizing for Bitcoin and other digital assets.

Vance spoke at Bitcoin 2025, a conference on the popular form of cryptocurrency, which was held at The Venetian Resort on the Las Vegas Strip.

The vice president said Bitcoin is an important tool for financial sovereignty and assured attendees that the Trump administration would support digital assets.

“I’m here today to say, loud and clear, with President Trump, crypto finally has a champion and an ally in the White House,” Vance said.

He added that he still owns “a fair amount of Bitcoin today.”

Offering attendees his advice, he said every victory is a “provisional victory” and cryptocurrency needs constant support through political involvement.

“Unless you guys get involved in politics, politics is going to ignore this industry,” Vance said, adding that he believes Bitcoin will become an important asset for the U.S.

The president courted support from cryptocurrency backers during his campaign and promised to create a “strategic Bitcoin reserve” back in March.

Other speakers listed on the lineup include Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, the sons of President Donald Trump, and White House cryptocurrency adviser David Sacks.

The Washington Post reported Vance was also set to attend a political fundraiser in Las Vegas on Tuesday. Admission was priced at a $1 million donation per person.
